Masonry Tools

Masonry tools

Masonry tools are one of the oldest tools invented by man. The interesting part about them is that in shape and purpose they have suffered very few changes throughout ancient history of mankind, just like the concept of construction.

Masonry Trowels

The most popular trowels in your country are provisionally two types:
Trowels with rounded top and “cut-shaped” trowels with sloped top. The older and more traditional model is the rounded trowel which depending on the arm’s size which is holding it. There are a variety of different sizes. It is used for applying mortar, lime, and lime-cement mixtures as well as a number of other activities related to cleaning, scraping, stirring and smoothing any mortars. With the advent of innovative building plasters and mortars, popularity gained also the “cut-shaped” trowels which allow more precise work.
The most important quality of trowel is strength. Good trowel should have comfortable handle firmly attached to the metal plate, which should have a certain hardness and durability.
REGGE trowels are further reinforced handles, providing even greater reliability of the instrument.
REGGE trowels have a dual welding handle, unlike most other trowels – only standard.
Besides the standard for all spot welding trowel handle, trowel REGGE have an additional argon welding, which ensures greater strength, without prejudice to the stainless material properties
Part of the additional feature TECHNICAL argon (Ar) welding is the key feature that it is carried out at a relatively lower temperature than standard electric (electric welding) and welding in protective gas environment (semiautomatic-wire). Unlike the other two types of welds, the lower operating temperature of the argon welding, makes it possible to preserve to the greatest extent, a combination of chemicals in the steel, providing its “rustproof”
Welding argon is carried out manually, for each piece

Plastering Trowels

Plastering trowel is a tool that is used to smooth and shape treated with mortars large surfaces. The most common are metal trowels. There are almost no variations of work piece, in most cases different is only the shape and form of the handle according to the preferences of the mason. There are open L-shaped handles and enclosed, “whole” handles, ergonomic, double, etc. types of handles.
According to the type of metal trowel is divided into two major subtypes: stainless and ordinary. Workers with more modern materials and plasters prefer stainless tools, but usually also have their place in practice.
The most important thing for a metal trowel is a flat work surface
There are various reasons why the sheet may remain uneven after manufacture of the tool – rough handling, thermal shrinkage at a higher than normal temperature of spot welding and the like of the handle.
Trowel upper price range of REGGE have a further treatment after installation of the handle.
Trowel from upper price range of REGGE go through equalizing press that finally removes any possible curvature of the plate.
There are trowels made from non-metallic materials. Such is the plastic trowel, which is especially suitable for working with “scratch” plasters.
Another type is a durable rubber trowel. It is used for grouting tiles, and granite.
Trowels with plain or with foam rubber are used for similar purposes
There are notched trowel for applying glue on fayuns , tile and granite. Depending on the width of the tooth is obtained and the different width of the adhesive strip.
The thinner strip means less material and a thinner layer of glue on the whole
Another type is the needle trowel. It is made of steel with high hardness and is used for roughening and smooth surface in which a primer has to enter as well as the removal of lighter gypsum plasters.
A variety of a trowel is the so called “finishing trowel” It is a tool with which the final smoothing of the plaster is done.
There are many different types of “finishing trowel” as the type of smoothing material largely determines the nature of the working surface of the “finishing trowel”
The most common types of power trowels are polyurethane float with foam rubber, polystyrene float and others.
Polyurethane power trowels are preferred because of their lightness and strength
The most common size trowel is 28/13sm. There are much more important representatives of this type of tools such 48/13sm or 120/30sm.
There are varieties of float as called. “Butterflies” in plaster. “Butterflies” are thin and long flexible metal items with handles, which are used to smooth large surfaces and get the best gypsum plasters
Regardless of the high-tech materials acquired widespread lately, in most masonry tools most valued is the usual wooden handle.

Unlike other materials, wood is hygroscopic and absorbs palm moisture from the material for building and lubrication, which in turn creates a much better grip. Mortars, which require working with masonry tools are water-based and therefore the absorption of moisture from the hands of the worker is important.

Mixers

Mixers (agitators) are a tool that is installed on ordinary or professional drills and is used for mixing mortar until a homogeneous mixture.
Mixers are several basic types: the type and purpose, they are divided into those for light solvents (paints) and those for heavy binders (adhesives for tiles, terracotta tiles, various plasters and mortars). Mixers h Alec solutions are made of lighter materials, as the mixing part is assembled from metal plates, while those for heavier mixtures, the mixing part is made of thick metal profile thickness? not less than 8 mm.
According to the type of grip to the rotary machine mixers are a regular hexagon and those with SDS grip.
A good mixer must be hard, strong and durable
Because of the rotation in abrasion the material wears quickly, over time the profile of the tool thins and therefore should be promptly replaced.
The good mixer runs until its profile thins more than 50% of its original size.
REGGE mixers are strong, and made of hard 8 mm thick welded profile. They are suitable for heavy mixtures and any mortars.
Important feature of the mixer is the right form of the stem, which provides good balance while rotating at high speed.
REGGE mixers are properly calibrated and protect from strong vibrations the hands of the worker and the electrical rotating machinery.
To work with mixers prefer slow speed electric machines. The principle is: the more hard the rotation, the slower speed should be.
